Using a private Docker Hub registry

Overview

Docker Hub private registries are a commonly used registry for service images. When you're adding a registry to your MedStack profile, it's important to note the URL used for authentication and fetching images may be different. This is sometimes the case for Docker Hub private registries.

For example, Docker Hub authenticates users via:

docker.io

The private Docker Hub registry makes images accessible at either of the following:

docker.io/<library>/<image>
registry.hub.docker.com/<library>/<image>

Configuring a service to use an image on a Docker Hub private registry

When configuring a service to use an image from a Docker Hub private registry, ensure you refer to the correct image URL for the registry (without the protocol, https://) to access images. Here's what that could look like on the service configuration form in MedStack:
